News Release: Fourteen-year-old Emmett Till’s body was found near Graball Landing on the Tallahatchie River following his lynching by two White men in 1955. Graball Landing is located near Glendora, Mississippi, and accessible to visitors via River Road. Please note that River Road is unpaved and can be difficult to traverse in wet conditions. The site includes views of the river, a historic marker, and limited roadside parking. Please respect private property around the site.


National Park Service awards over $1.2 million to preserve sites of armed conflict

News Release: WASHINGTON - The National Park Service (NPS) awarded $1,212,066.50 in Preservation Planning Grants today through the American Battlefield Protection Program (ABPP). The 10 grant recipients will help preserve battlefields and other sites of armed conflict from the east coast to Alaska’s Aleutian Islands, using these funds to conduct archeological site surveys, interpretive planning, and community outreach.
