September wild horse and burro adoption events in Wyoming
News Release: CHEYENNE, Wyo. - The Bureau of Land Management will hold five wild horse and burro adoptions in Wyoming this September. Untrained horses and burros will be offered to qualified adopters on a first-come, first-served basis for a $125 minimum fee (credit cards are the preferred payment method). Saddle and halter-started horses and burros may be adopted by competitive bid. Below are the scheduled adoption events for the month of September:.

Public Meetings Offered for Rock Springs Draft Resource Management Plan

Whale Waters Update for Glacier Bay Effective August 29th, 2023
News Release: BARTLETT COVE, ALASKA - Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve Acting Superintendent Tom Schaff announced today that the 13-knot vessel speed limit for all vessels in Berg Bay is lifted due to a lack of whale sightings in that area. These updated operating requirements, shown on the enclosed map, are effective from 5 AM Tuesday August 29th until further notice. The following whale waters areas remain in effect.

BLM to conduct wild horse gather in West Douglas Herd Area
News Release: MEEKER, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will begin a wild horse gather on September 1 in the West Douglas Herd Area approximately 20 miles south of Rangely in Rio Blanco County. The BLM plans to remove the entire estimated population of 122 wild horses from the herd area, state, and private land. The appropriate management level for wild horses in this area is zero.
