Darren Belskis selected as chief ranger of Acadia National Park

News Release: Bar Harbor, Maine - Acadia National Park superintendent Kevin Schneider announced the selection of Darren Belskis as chief ranger of Acadia National Park. Belskis is currently the park’s deputy chief ranger.


Yellowbottom Campground opening delayed due to safety concerns

News Release: Eugene, Ore. - Bureau of Land Management recreation managers are delaying the seasonal opening of the Yellowbottom Campground, located about 20 miles outside of Sweet Home. BLM staff inspected the campground ahead of its scheduled spring opening and found several potential safety hazards.

National Park Service Will Reopen Sites 4/14, Start Charging Fees 4/17

News Release: BUSHKILL, PA- Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area announced today that sites that were closed for the winter will officially re-open on Friday, April 14, though some were opened earlier due to favorable conditions. Expanded amenity fees will go into effect on Monday, April 17 and will be collected until mid-October.

Flood Conditions: Namekagon and St. Croix River Landings Closed

News Release: River conditions on the St. Croix and Namekagon rivers are currently very high, fast flowing, and cold with significant amounts of floating debris, creating hazardous river conditions for river users and park visitors. Sand Replenishment at Jacob Riis Park

Increased Accessibility Now Available on the Gettysburg Battlefield

News Release: GETTYSBURG, PA - Gettysburg National Military Park recently installed two bronze relief tactile tables, with a third to come, at key locations within the park. These new bronze relief tables depict three-dimensional landscape elevations of the battlefield. Visitors will now have access to better understand the landscape across which the battle was fought and how terrain influenced the movements of the two armies at Gettysburg in July of 1863.
