CAMPFIRES PROHIBITED ON BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT LANDS IN NORTHWEST OREGON TO PROTECT AGAINST WILDFIRE

News Release: EUGENE, Ore. - Due to high fire danger, campfires will be prohibited on all Bureau of Land Management lands in northwest Oregon starting Aug. 11 at 12:01 a.m. This restriction includes developed campgrounds. BLM officials are putting these public use restrictions in place due to forecasted hot and dry weather.


Plane Crash in Denali's Southwest Preserve

News Release: Denali National Park and Preserve officials were informed by the Alaska Air National Guard Rescue Coordination Center (AKRCC) that they had initiated a search for an overdue aircraft in the park’s southwest preserve. Using coordinates from a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) associated with the overdue pilot, the RCC had launched an initial search aircraft late Wednesday night, August 9; however, the flight was turned around due to weather.


BLM Arizona Strip District implements temporary closure for public safety and Kane Fire suppression efforts

News Release: ST. GEORGE, Utah-Due to the extreme fire conditions the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Arizona Strip District is implementing a temporary closure of BLM-managed lands south of Hwy 89A in House Rock Valley. To support full access for fire resources in continued Kane Fire suppression efforts and to ensure public safety, the closure will begin Aug. 10, 2023, and will continue to the end of the incident.

Reclamation announces flow schedule for Hoopa Valley Tribe Boat Dance Ceremony

News Release: REDDING, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation will begin to increase releases from Lewiston Dam to the Trinity River beginning Aug. 18. The increased releases are in support of the Hoopa Valley Tribe bi-annual Boat Dance Ceremony held in Hoopa, California, and are separate from the Trinity River restoration flows. People near or recreating on the river can expect river levels to increase during this time and should take appropriate property and safety precautions.

Prescribed Fire at Lincoln's Boyhood Home

News Release: In March of 2023, fire personnel from the Great Lakes Fire Management Zone located at Indiana Dunes National Park, conducted several pile burns and a broadcast burn in the Cemetery Hill Unit at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial. An engine from the Missouri Park Group, located at Ozark National Scenic Riverways assisted the Great Lakes Fire Management Zone staff in the completion of the prescribed fire.
