Steamtown National Historic Site receives generous donation to restore locomotive

News Release: Scranton, Pa. - A generous financial donation to Steamtown National Historic Site (NHS) is helping fund the restoration of the Atlantic Coast Line #1901, a steam era diesel locomotive in the park's collection. Steamtown NHS was one of six railroad museums identified to receive funds from the estate of Eric J. Yankovich, a longtime rail enthusiast.

News Release: The National Park Service at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area seeks public input site amenity improvements at Seven Bays Marina. As one of the busiest concessions-operated marinas and boat launches on the lake, these improvements are critical to address deferred maintenance and provide a safer, more accessible park facility. BLM opens protest period for oil and gas lease sale in New Mexico, Oklahoma

News Release: SANTA FE, N.M. - The Bureau of Land Management New Mexico State Office today opened a 30-day public protest period to receive public input on eleven oil and gas parcels totaling 595.59 acres that may be included in an upcoming lease sale in New Mexico and Oklahoma. The protest period ends Sept. 13, 2023.


Releases from Davis Dam temporarily reduced

News Release: Boulder City, Nev. - The Bureau of Reclamation announced it will temporarily reduce water releases from Davis Dam on Tuesday, Aug. 15, from 6 to 10 a.m. (MDT). Releases will be approximately 2,100 cubic feet per second. The low flow operations will allow the city of Laughlin and the Las Vegas Valley Water District to perform maintenance on the city’s water supply intake system.

Paradise Historic Tour: Ski Tow-Powerhouse

Lightning Caused Fire in the Rincon Mountains

News Release: On August 13 at 8 am a lightning-caused fire was reported in Saguaro National Park’s Rincon Mountain northeast of Spud Rock. The Coronado National Forest helitack crew has flown the fire in a helicopter stationed at the park and reported it is in a deep, rocky drainage and is currently around 1/10 of an acre in size. Smoke may be visible from Redington Pass.


History Comes to Life at Five Forks on September 2nd!
